Taranaki Family was set up to promote 4-Wheel Drive motor vehicle family recreation as wholesome and fun. Also to demonstrate motor vehicle recreation practices, to protect and enjoy the natural environment, and to promote the recreational motorized access of public lands.

Our Key Goals in the Club are:

To make it as casual as possible by having very friendly meetings. The meetings themselves should be primarily a social function, with the official business taking up only a small portion of the time.

To go 4WD'ing and camping with a minimum of political fuss, making it really just a way of formalising a group of friends going out on a 4WD'ing trip and sharing ideas/parts/tips etc with a bunch of like-minded individuals.


We follow the "Tread Lightly" philosophy. We stick to refined tracks and let our tyres down when on soft surfaces to minimise wheelspin and to protect the vegetation and wildlife.

We invite one and all to come along and try out this amazing sport and hobby, come meet the people, and enjoy parts of NZ that you would normally never see.
