Waitangi Weekend

It was a busy weekend for the club with various activities. Saturday saw club members Kim, Chris and Tony J drive a vehicle up to Tahurangi Lodge, Mt Egmont as back up to assist people off the mountain for the Egmont Alpine Club Open Climb. Three people, two with Knee injuries and one whose boots had completely disintegrated while on the upper slopes required transportation down.

Nine kids and 15 adults in nine vehicles met at Okato 4 Square for a run to Wainui Station on a overcast Sunday morning. Drivers briefing held it was off to the site of one of the home steads that was originally here.
Mangamahu CZ invitation run

Those of us who went Friday night met at Farmlands / McDonalds car park before heading out to Mangamahu. We arrived at Aranui station about 8.30pm and settled in for the weekend. The rest of the evening was spent chatting, getting to know those we had not met before.
Mt Egmont Central Zone Challenge Trail

Mt Egmont Central Zone Challenge Trail was held at a venue on Dudley road Inglewood on Jan 14. About 17 vehicles had registered for the event, 5 of our club members participating and a handful of other club members out as spectators. After a drivers brief at 2.15pm, we headed down to the hazards area for the first section of the event.
Tony's run 27 Dec 2011

We started off with nine vehicles on this run, just a few minutes into the run a break down occurred. Seven vehicles proceeded on while repairs were being made, with the others to catch up when going again. The track had suffered from the effects of the snow earlier in the year and required lots of trimming with a chain saw to get through it. The odd mud hole kept the crew happy, only one tow being necessary. We made it through to the forest Shane and Paula left us here as their two year old was ready to go home.
