Wilson's Run and Training Day 29th-30th Nov

A stunning backdrop of Mt Egmont provided the perfect setting for this weekend's Run and Training day. Kim, Shona and Alan headed out Friday night, setting up camp in the only place in the paddock that didn't get the morining sun first thing. It was a fairly cool night, with a awesome sunrise the next day. Alan & Becky, Ron, Lee & Jo, Wilson, Robert and Coral arriving for the days run. After a little play on the runoff we headed down the road and around toward the coast a bit to another patch of land of Wilson's for a drive. Lunch was back at the camp site. Every one pitched in to help with a pot luck barbeque tea, followed by a night run. Funny how what you drive through the day becomes a totally new ball game in the dark!

Saturdays Run

Sunday was another brilliant day, Kim sets off to collect John our 4wd instructor, only to find she's flattened her battery. Alan kindly sorts it out for her. John has come prepared with a white board so its to the hay shed for the theory. John goes over hill ascents, descents, failed hill climbs, river crossings, boggy ground, sand driving and a little on snow driving. then it was down to the paddock for the practical section. Dividing into 2 groups, John taking Richard and Cole and Patrick who are all very new to off roading for ascents and descents, while Wilson supervised the others with failed hill climbs. The day finished with a brief chat on strops, tow hooks, signs of wear and tear in your strop. Many thanks to John Stewart from Mobilize Training for the day.
